Who reMarkable Tablets Suit Best
reMarkable targets users who prioritize writing and reading over multimedia. The range spans from the 7.3-inch Paper Pro Move to the 11.8-inch Paper Pro. You choose color E Ink for sketching or monochrome E Ink for distraction-free documents. Models vary from thin 0.19-inch slabs to heavier bundles with folios. You get large canvases for detailed work or compact sizes for travel. The lineup lacks video playback or gaming focus. It suits note-takers who want a paper-like experience without smart features or app ecosystems.
You can examine detailed hardware specifications across the best reMarkable tablets to compare display sizes and weight.
How to Choose Your reMarkable Tablet
Prioritize Screen Size for Use
Your primary task determines the ideal screen size. If you sketch or review large documents, the 11.8-inch Paper Pro offers ample canvas space. For focused note-taking on standard pages, the 10.3-inch models like the Paper Pure provide a balanced layout. Travelers should consider the 7.3-inch Paper Pro Move, which fits easily into bags. Match the display dimensions to your typical document width to avoid excessive scrolling or cramped margins.
Choose Color vs. Monochrome Display
Select a display based on your need for color. The Paper Pro series features Color E Ink, which supports vibrant sketches and color-coded notes. This is ideal for creative work. If you only read text and write in black ink, monochrome E Ink models like the reMarkable 2 or Paper Pure are sufficient. These screens offer high contrast and faster refresh rates for pure text rendering without the extra cost or weight of color panels.
Check Physical Dimensions and Weight
Portability depends on weight and dimensions. The 7.3-inch Paper Pro Move weighs just 8.76 ounces, making it the lightest option for carrying. Larger 11.8-inch models weigh 1.16 pounds and include bulky folios. The 10.3-inch devices sit in the middle, typically around 12.7 ounces. Consider how often you travel. A lighter device reduces strain during long sessions. Verify the width and length to ensure it fits your preferred carrying case or bag.
Evaluate Included Accessories
Check what comes in the box. Some bundles include a Black Leather Folio or Marker Plus, which adds value and protection. The Paper Pro with Folio offers a premium feel. Other models may list just the tablet and stylus. If you need a case, ensure the bundle includes one or purchase separately. The Marker Plus often provides an eraser tool on the tip. Verify the model number to confirm exactly which accessories are included in your specific package.
Consider Ink Response Speed
Ink response time affects writing feel. The Paper Pure models advertise a fast 21 ms response, which reduces lag while writing. This creates a smoother experience compared to older models. If you write quickly, this speed matters. Check the specifications for response time data. Faster ink updates make digital notes feel closer to paper. This spec is particularly relevant for the newer Paper Pure series compared to the standard reMarkable 2 models.
