The Microsoft Surface Pro 2025 offers strong performance and up to 16 hours of battery life for Windows users. If you are looking beyond the Microsoft Surface Pro 2-in-1 laptop/tablet, consider 6 alternatives that match its core specs. This device features a 12-inch touchscreen and 16GB of RAM, making it a practical choice for professionals who need a convertible design. However, you might prefer a different size, brand, or specific feature set. Some buyers seek cellular connectivity, a smaller form factor, or the efficiency of an Apple chip instead of Snapdragon.
We selected these alternatives because their specifications overlap with the original model’s key attributes. The list includes options with varying screen sizes, from 8.3 inches to 13 inches, and storage capacities up to 512GB. You can find devices with Wi-Fi 6, LTE support, or M-series processors. Each option provides a distinct combination of portability and power. Whether you prioritize long battery life, AI tools, or a compact tablet experience, these choices offer comparable technical capabilities. The following rankings help you compare the most relevant specs side by side.
How Each Alternative Compares
Microsoft Surface Pro 8 i7 LTE
The Microsoft Surface Pro 8 i7 LTE offers a larger 13-inch display compared to the 12-inch screen on the 2025 model. It weighs less at 0.75 inches thick, making it slightly more portable in height. This version includes LTE connectivity, which the Snapdragon X Plus model lacks. You get an Intel Evo i7 processor and 16GB of RAM with 512GB of storage. The Windows 11 Pro operating system provides professional features. If you need cellular data and extra screen space, this is a practical choice. It gives up the latest AI engine but retains a robust Windows experience for mobile users.
Microsoft Surface Pro 2-in-1 (2025) Copilot+ PC
This 2025 Copilot+ PC is nearly identical to the top pick in dimensions, sharing the 11.6-inch length and 1.43-inch height. It also features 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The main difference is the UFS storage type instead of SSD. It weighs 1.5 pounds, providing a tangible sense of portability. You get the same 12-inch touchscreen and Copilot+ AI capabilities. This model is ideal if you prefer the specific configuration of UFS storage or need the exact weight profile. It matches the original in performance tier but offers a slight variation in storage technology for those who prioritize that specific spec.
Apple iPad 11-Inch (A16, 512GB, 5G)
The Apple iPad 11-inch shifts you from Windows to iOS. It features an 11-inch touchscreen, which is smaller than the 12-inch Surface display. It is much thinner at 0.28 inches and lighter at 1.06 pounds. You get 512GB of storage and Wi-Fi 6 connectivity plus 5G cellular. This device is best if you prioritize a lightweight tablet form factor over a laptop keyboard. It lacks the Copilot+ AI tools and Windows multitasking. You gain cellular flexibility and a compact design. Choose this if you want a dedicated media and browsing device with ample storage and fast wireless speeds.
Apple iPad Air 11-inch (M4, 512GB)
The Apple iPad Air 11-inch with M4 chip offers significantly more processing power than the Snapdragon X Plus. It shares the 11-inch screen size and 512GB storage capacity. It is extremely thin at 0.24 inches and weighs just 1.02 pounds. This device is built for creative pros needing desktop-class performance. It lacks a full Windows operating system and the built-in kickstand of the Surface. You get a smaller display but much higher raw speed. Pick this alternative if you are already in the Apple ecosystem and need maximum performance in a lightweight package, accepting the trade-off in screen size and OS compatibility.
Apple iPad mini 8.3-inch 512GB
The Apple iPad mini 8.3-inch is the most portable option on this list. It features an 8-inch touchscreen, significantly smaller than the 12-inch Surface. It weighs only 10.4 ounces and is 0.25 inches thick. You get 512GB of storage in a compact purple casing. This device is ideal for reading, media consumption, and light tasks on the go. It lacks the productivity features and larger screen of the Surface Pro. You give up multitasking ease for extreme portability. Choose this if you prioritize a device that fits easily in one hand or a small bag, accepting the reduced screen real estate for daily use.
Apple iPad Air 11-inch (M2) 512GB
The Apple iPad Air 11-inch with M2 chip provides a mid-range alternative with an 11-inch touchscreen. It shares the 512GB storage and 1.02-pound weight of the M4 model. It is 0.24 inches thick. This device offers strong efficiency and performance for portable productivity. It lacks the latest M4 chip but still delivers capable speeds. You get Wi-Fi and cellular connectivity options. This is a solid choice if you want a reliable Apple tablet without the premium price of the newest chip. It trades the larger 12-inch Surface screen for a familiar Apple form factor with robust internal hardware and versatile connectivity.
